The Eye

 Today the before school pic was to pull an eye apart on the computer We had to click on what it said to pull it apart.Then we played a Wilson game. We had to get into groups of three and hold hands to make a triangle. The aim: To get into the first hoop and then get into the second first. The rules were: we had to land at the same time, we couldn't touch the hoop, if one of us fell over we had go back to the check point of start. My team came third.

Dodge ball

Today I challenged Kendall in a game of chess and I won, so now I am fifth. At morning tea and lunch we played dodge ball. The other team won six times and my team won four it was hard because they had more room than us. Also we did enviorment project my group only just started making a sign that said kids corner. We put some cartoon planes on and one of them we made into an air New Zealand plane. We also added some helicopters to make it an airport theme. For must dos and picks I did knight's tour and I bet my personal best. Now my personal best is the same as Alana's. 
My personal best is 54. You had to get rid of all the gems just by using the knight but on every move you had to land on a gem.

Sea Shepherd

Today Grant Meikle came in and talked about the Sea Shepherd. He told us that the Japanese came down to Antarctica where they kill whales and take them back to Japan so they can use it as food. But they don't even like to eat whale. They have 1 factory ship and 3 harpoon ships. 
Also today, I have finished my blog we are going to do Must dos and picks.

Waihopai river

Today we went down to Waihopai river and we planted some plants, so it would block all the mud that would go down to the river and that would make it heaps cleaner. Kendall and I planted about 13 trees. When we were planting trees Kendall and I kept an eye out for some quartz because Kendall has a collection that he keeps on his window. When we were down there we got some juice to drink. I didn't think it would be very fun but it was, especially how we were helping the enviorment. We were down there for about two hours so when we came back we had lunch straight away. We planted two hundred and fifty plants.

Charcoal

Today at Enrich I learned how to draw mountains with charcoal. My drawing looks effective even though it is just black and white. It smudges really well. 1st day back

Today we presented our environment project keynote to Chloe. Before she came we did a practise our presentation so when Chloe came we would know what we were going to say. After we presented it to Chloe we had morning tea. At lunch I played soccer my team won 2-1. After lunch we played a Wilson game. Their was four hoops for each team and a basket in the middle of the front, if you got it in you got it in you would bring it back to the 2nd hoop and through it to the person at the front of the line. If they caught it the basket would stay there if they didn't it would go back to the first hoop.

The Adventure movie...

Today at Enrich we did leader board chess. Jackson challenged me and I won. For passion time Jayden, Blake and I made an iMovie about Blake trying to find a video camera. We have only just started to do the movie trailer. Blake is acting as an adventurer. Jayden is acting as a monster, interviewer and a riddle guy. We are just practicing at the moment. We read some facts about comparing the the last generation to our generation about being green. After Darryn read it to us we split  into groups of three and discussed it further.  I thought that I could start using material shopping bags, rather than the plastic ones.

Air pollution video

Today we watched a air pollution video about the top ten polluted cities in the world. The most polluted city was Ahvaz in Iran. The least polluted city in the world is Wellington!! My group finished their keynote for the environment project. We completed the draft and know where in the airport it is going to go. Once I have done my blog I'm going to do passion time, I'm going to make a movie in Alice. Blake challenged me in chess but I won.

The Water Pollution Video

Today we watched the water pollution video. It was annoying because people just dropped plastic bags then the animals that lived in the water breathed them in and died. Here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YAoyTsyM7M

There was also a turtle that was shaped like an eight.  I also played chess and moved up to sixth on the leader board. I also played capture the cone at lunch time. After this post I am going on to my passion time which is also going to be our environment project today.

Fibonacci numbers

Today  we did Fibonacci numbers we learned  other ways it  fits into nature. Like how they fit into a spiral shell, cows and rabbits. As you can see the first 6  Fibonacci numbers are 1,1,2,3,5,8. We played bullseye for the Wilson game. My team won with elven points.

Fibonacci Numbers

Today at enrich I learned what the Fibonacci numbers are. they are some numbers that if you add the two numbers before it, it will answer with it for example 0,1,1,2,3,5,8, ... We had to see how high we could go I got up to the 27th and then I ran out of time. It was hard because it got really high. but it was very fun and interesting. We did a Wilson game called pegasourus, my team won 73-50.

Light bulb

Today at Enrich I made a light bulb glow! The instructions told us to use 8 batteries but it didn't work because the lead kept on exploding! So we moved it down to six batteries and it worked. We tried with three batteries but there wasn't enough power to go so that meant that the lowest was four batteries but it was only dim. When we tried again with the eight batteries it worked. Then we tried with 13 batteries it glowed so bright all you could see on the camera was white. Six was the best because you could see the light. 

Elephant tooth paste

Today at Enrich my group made elephant toothpaste. First a whole lot of liquid poured out then a lot of foam poured out. It looked really awesome. On some videos they were going 2 meters high. Some they did in a pumpkin and it poured out of it's mouth, nose and eyes. In chess I played Kavarn and won so now I am sixth.

2nd day back

Today at Enrich we did a technology challenge that you had to make a shuttlecock fly, out of card, a cup, skewers and straws. It was hard until we came up with a cannon bolt idea. We put the piece of card on the cup then we placed the shuttlecock on one end, wacked the other end so it went flying. When we are going to see whose goes the furtherest Je Eun will push it down.

First day back

Today we did high interest stations, we had the choice of maths tessellations, art impressionist painting chemistry making elephant tooth paste. I chose maths the tessallations. It was really hard but in the end I came up with a pattern for a crocodile that I will finish next week and post on my blog so watch this space! We have also started our tuning in for our concept curriculum which is about environment and we are about to do some more right now.

Last day for term two

 Today we did an assessment about what we  had learned over the past few terms. Some oft he questions were really hard. After that I  played chess and won so I am still fifth. :) After that we played a Wilson game. We got into groups of three and made a triangle holding hands the aim of the game was to jump into the hoop holding hands but we weren't allowed to touch the hoop, first one in won.

5th at chess

Today I challenged Callum at chess I bet him so I moved up to fifth but then he demanded a rematch and he bet me so I went back to sixth. Later on I versed Callum again and bet him so now I am fifth.

Then we did Canstruction, my group decided to change the colour to red because the yellow made it hard to see the M. I played football at lunch my team won 5-2. Then we looked at another model of giftedness, it looked like a star.

5th at chess

Today I versed Kendall at chess. It was a close match but in the end I won. I got the chance to go to the chess tournament but I have football on the same day so I chose not to go to the chess tournament. For Canstruction we started to sketch a picture of the M&Ms. We changed to only doing the yellow M&M. Here is the picture of my sketch that I did on Google Sketch Up. At lunch time I played "Capture the Cone". My team lost 5-4. Then we did our Must Do's and Picks.

Hi Matt,

Gosh you were on the ball during maths talent development today! I can see that maths is a real strength for you.  It was a great idea you had, to base our M & M measurements around the size of the round table, it will make our figuring out a lot easier! I hope you are ready to use a compass next week, we are going to need a lot of brain power over the next few weeks.

Today at Enrich...

Today I challenged Blake at chess - I won but he had all his pawns and a king. Then we had morning tea. After that it was time for passion time. I made an I-movie of Jayden's lego animation - Cops and Robbers. It was pretty funny because when I told Jayden to smile he wiped his nose with his hand. My movie turned out not as good as I wanted it but it was still good. At lunch time I was playing on an I-pad. When lunch was done, we did Must dos and Picks for the afternoon.

Happy Easter

Today the final day at Enrich for the term. It has been so cool to come to Enrich. I have tried so many new things and met new people. When I first heard Wilson Ludlow was going to Enrich it gave me a goal, and here I am. I feel great to have achieved my goal. I wish Enrich was my everyday school. The chess leader board was fun and makes me practice my chess at home.

Today I did the learning wheel, we had to write something in each box. The box's had I felt, I wondered, I tried, I learned and I used,
We also did dodge ball my team won twice. I hit Darryn three times he hit me twice. Nathan hit him once. We played 5 games and my team won 3 out of 5. But it was unfair because Darryn was always in the other team.
Finally I wish eveyone a happy holiday and Easter.      :)  

Today I did chess leaderboard against Wilson, I won but since he is on Friday's and I am on Tuesday's I don't move up : (. Then I vs Maleko in chess again but like last time we didn't get to finish.
The wilson game was fun this time we sat in a circle, then some people got pegs put on their back you ethier got a red peg on your back or a yellow peg. If you got a peg on your back you walk into the middle of the circle. The aim of the game is to grab the pegs off the other team, each peg you got of the other team was worth 1 point and each one you had on your back was worth 2 points. At the end of the 1 minute they will add up the points and the team with the most points win.

Finaly we did canstuction we had a big list off ideas at the end we were left with M&M's, then we had towork out what color we ended red and yellow.

My day at Enrich

 Today I did the chess before school pick. It was hard but in the end I got it. The fish and bear maths challenge was hard. I challenged Kendal in chess but I lost.

We had to write a list of things that bug us.  My mind was blank when we did the bug list.

 The scamper video was very funny but I got sick of it because they kept repeating the same things over and over again.  SCAMPER is a creative thinking task that makes you think outside the square.   I loved P4C with Darryn, the question today was "Is 'because' a real answer?".

 The Wilson game was very hard but also extremely fun. The aim of the game was to find two bean bags, with the commander giving instructions to a blindfolded person, who was looking for the bean bags.

 The bio poem is a poem about your self.  We had to say our fears, things we are good at, where you were born and things like that.

Week 5

I did photography with Katie and we did different views with the camera. Some of the views we learnt about were birds eye view, worms eye view, long shot, close up and mouse eye.
 I also did my Affective domain workshop with Katie. It was about the bad things about being gifted.  I also vs Maleko in chess and we played twice but we never finished. I learned pins, skewers and forks. I want to practise using pins, skewers and forks next week!

Week 4

Today we did chess leader board, I bet Jayden and now I am 10th. My group also completed their fairy tale perspective, by using Toontastic on the ipads, it was very funny. I completed my P4C and my affective domain.

My third day at enrich

My favorite thing today is the chess. Today I learned Scottish checkmate. I also liked the maths and art. I enjoyed my group's fairy tale perspective. This is my first blog I have ever done.
