I can see clearly now my eyes are on!

I can see all the fish that want to bite me!
One of my lures finally has eyes on. My lure isn't very nice all he has been doing since I gave him eyes is stare at me. Soon I will be able to try him out. Plus it is fishing season which means we can go fishing in the river. After all my blog post all my page views all my followers this is MY second last blog post ever so next week I promise a real good one. :(

I haven't shared my affective study so I think I am going to be next week. The minus about that is that I can worry about it for another

Yellow eyes

Turns out that there is eyes here but they are orange and Darryn wants it to have yellow eyes. So my lures have to survive another week without eyes. :(  So Darryns gong to go to the shop to get yellow eyes and hooks.

Leonardo Fibonacci

I finally finished my presentation of Leonardo Fibonacci. Which means now I  just have to share it. Although Jenni got me by surprise when she said I had done lots of work because I was struggling to find information. So I thought that I didn't have much information hopefully when I share it everyone else likes it as well.

M_ss_ng I's

Okay the title was a little bit of an exaggeration but my lures are missing the eyes!!!!! They're going to have to live another week without eyes. Imagine living a week with out eyes. I couldn't do it very well and I assume that you couldn't either. The missing eyes mean that the only good things that came out of passion time today is finishing the bib on the second lure and adding an extra coat.

In the morning I got a shock as...
I read the morning email. it said that from 8:40 to 9:00 we were going to play a game of dodgeball!!! My favourite game to play at school mostly because it is a fast action game and I am good at it.

The Bib

I think you might be wondering why I have a blog post about a bib? But these bibs aren't for babies they are for fishing lures. As you can see in  the pictures some of the biggest fishing companies in the world have fishing lures. Now these bibs are made for the lure to dive down, then when you stop winding it floats up and looks like an injured fish. So I spent passion time today adding bibs to my fish lures and adding extra coats of paint onto the mouse lure.
These photos are not mine they are rapala's

Smoked Fish...

The brown trout is looking awesome!!! Today I added black and white spots to the side and a darker brown to the  top of the lure. Although progress could have been a lot faster if the paint dried faster. With fishing season coming up and my lures nearly complete, it's not long until I can try them out with my Dad and Uncle. But this passion project will never be finished until I catch a trout bring it home and smoke it for tea. MMMMMMM!

Time pressures...

This week at Enrich I continued on the journey to complete my passion project, the fishing lure. But today I had a problem. The air brush paint was so wet that it didn't stick to the tin foil on the fishing lure. So I asked Darryn and he showed me this other paint that has an oil base so it stuck a lot better. But since we had that problem it cost  me valuable time. Which means that I made less progress so I may not even get it finished by the end of the term.

Leonardo Pisano Bigollo

Today is the secound week of our affective domain project, which is studying a gifted person. We could research any gifted person that we wanted, but they had to have:  above average ability, task commitment, creativity, and someone who you admire. I chose Leonardo Pisano Bigollo, AKA [ Leonardo Fibonacci ].  So we have to have this finished by the 6th week of term four ready to present to the rest of our group. I am thinking of presenting mine on Prezi.

The final day

The quest continues but with this being the last day we are going to do the most that we have ever done before. As the foil takes longer and longer. The airbrushing time runs out. And with no idea with what we are going to paint it like Plus our airbrush skill limited it is really going to be the hardest challenge yet. If we leave the airbrushing too late it will be a challenge to complete it because we can't rush it since if we do a bad job then fish might no even bite it.  And that would be a waste of all our hard work into this project. To find out what happens read my blog next week.

The beginning of the foil.

For the last 17 weeks Matt and I have been slaving away in the art bay, making lures.
Recently we have just accomplished glueing them together.
Next we face a challenging part that we have never done before.
The foil!
This will involve glue, netting and tin foil. This will really push us to our limits.
The outcome will be great but will we even finish it in time?
To find out keep following  my blog and read what happens next.

Can you see the scales?

Glue!!

For the past few weeks Matt and I have been stuck on bending the wire to fit our lures. It is really hard because you have to make it the right length otherwise it will bend when a fish is on it. For some reason, today was a good day for both of us because we accomplished a lot by together getting 3 lures glued together and clamped. I figured out that Matt is on a time limit because in two weeks he is going to France and Spain. So we REALLY have to be switched on and working hard out nonstop.

Hard words to pronounce

Clouds, did you know that there is more than one cloud types. Different cloud types mean different weather. Each type  of cloud has a different name and different weather they will bring to us. In the morning above us was Cirrus which means high icy clouds. I the distant I could see Stratus which is a thin layer of cloud that usually brings light rain.  There are some really weird names such as Cumulonimbus, Stratocumulus, Altocumulus and Cumulus.

Chess
Today I challenge Reid, he lost most of his pieces early in the battle and with my Queen in the battle field he stood no chance, so check mate soon followed.

2nd To Top

Today I challenged Bruno. I lost my queen in the early stages of the battle, fought back well but it wasn't enough to win the game so Bruno won top spot on the leader board. It wasn't long until I asked for a rematch. Killing his pawns for the early lead. Then Bruno gave some piece's away for free which meant I was dominating the match. He fought back with his knight, queen and a few pawns. But it was no challenge for my queen, 2 rooks, 2 knights a bishop and some pawns. So I bet him reclaiming top spot. Bruno really wanted top spot so he challenged me again but we ran out of time to finish the game. So I am still in first, Bruno's in 2nd, Charlie in 3rd, Liam in fourth, Matt S in 5th and Luca in sixth.

Real bubbly drink

Dry Ice is dangerous because if it gets on your skin it burns in a cold way. Charlie got some on his hand and he said it hurts a lot. Thats why we had safety glasses  and gloves but it somehow got through Charlie's glove. We put water in a glass, then we put food colouring in  so we had some colour. Then we added some dry ice,  and steam started coming of it straight away. When we added dishwashing liquid it started bubbling - bubbles come flowing over the side in the colour of the food colouring.
THIS IS MY ONE

I asked Katie if we could put water and dry ice in a container then put a balloon over the top.  The balloon started to blow up. We also blew up a normal balloon and dropped them both from the same height. Can you guess which balloon landed first  - the one we blew up with steam or the one we blew up with our breath?  If you guessed the one with steam then you are correct.

Finger Careful

You might be wondering why I put FINGER CAREFUL as the title?  Well we used 45 minutes rasping a job that an electrical sanders could do in ten minutes. Although we did have to be careful of our fingers because it was connected to the drill. We sanded it so well that it has a shape of the lures. Next week we plan to place the wire in the middle and tinfoil it.
This is me sanding my lure.

Time problems

Matt and I restarted making our lures, because we both made a cut  that ruined them so today we restarted. But today we had more experience, skill and better equipment. We have started making my lure but we ran out of time to start making Matt's. It is hard because neither Matt or I are good with saws. I was really looking forward to using the new airbrush, but we ran out of time. Never mind - there's always next week.

Sanding and Chopping Balsa

Balsa wood is extremely soft and light. Today we started making our lure. Darryn had bought a plank of balsa wood. First we drew our designs on the wood. Then we got a saw and cut it out. So we had a square version of our lure. Next we used a craft knife to make it rounder. Finally we had to use sand paper to smoothen the bumps. The hardest bit I found was using the craft knife to round it. My knife wasn't as sharp as Matt's and I couldn't get the technique quite right. But next week Matt and I plan to do the painting and add the wires.

Foiling a lure

At passion time Darryn had found an awesome video on painting lures and getting the scales. All you need is an air brush, tin foil, a net and wood. Its cool because he also shows you how to make the gills and fins.  Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIG4MYXjs1M to watch the video.  Next week we are planning on starting to make the lures. Using a air brush to paint the lures is faster than a paint brush and comes with a better out come.

Chess and Passion Time

At chess time we had the opportunity to take an advanced lesson, beginner lesson or play a game. I chose to play a game of chess  against Bruno and I won. Can you guess what place I am? I also did passion time Matt and I decided to make a lure that is like a joint. It is ether going to look like  a brown trout or a rainbow trout. If you guessed I am 3rd on the leader board, you are correct!

Yellow Stripe

What my paint job will look like.

What Matt's paint job will look like.
Matt and I are still planning out what we are going to make our lures out of and what they will look. Our plan is to have a swivel part way through the lures body to make it look like an injured fish trying to get to the bottom of the lake/river. I think we will use Manuka wood because it is strong and heavy so it is easy to cast. There will be two hooks so it has more chance of it hooking a fish.
We think we  are going to paint it black and gold. Matt will make his stripes go up and down. Matt has called his Bumble Bee. I will make my stripes go side ways and mine will be called Yellow Stripe. We still have a bit of research to do around how fish see colours and what makes them strike a lure.

Passion time

Did you know that fish bite the lure because they are curious or annoyed by it!!  Matt and I chose to make lures like Rapala but with our own twist. We will make them out of wood and plastic. We are going to add a bib to make them go deeper. There is going to be a swivel part way through the lures body to make it look like an injured fish.

Passion time

For passion time Matt and I are going to make fishing lures that will catch brown trout. My aim is to at least make one lure and catch some trout with it. We will be making tobys. For the first toby we will be painting it with glow in the dark paint and for the second toby we will paint it with metallic.  This passion project should last about 8 weeks (minimum).

Patterns

Today we went on a field trip around Queens Park, to see how many patterns we could find in our surroundings. There are five catagories that patterns fit into. A pattern of strength, beauty, random, survivability and order. Patterns are everywhere. When we were to the band rotunder Geoff said "do you know why there are ten beams holding up the roof" I reckon that it is because the Romans had 10 months in a year and if you count every tile there will be as many as the days in the year.

Chess Art

Rook
You are probably wondering what in the world is chess art. Well it is simply sketching a chess piece of your choice. I chose a rook thinking it would be the easiest but I didn't relize how hard 3 D art actualy is especially with chess pieces. But mine turned out to be really good even though I am not good at art most the time.  Do you think it's 3D?Please rate it 1-10. If you are going to draw things in 3D it is important to remember that 3 dimensions need 3 directions.

Caine's Arcade

Caine is a kid from LA who made an arcade out of cardboard boxes! It is really cool because he has become famous because of it. Now his arcade is as popular as a normal arcade. It is real cool to see how creative he is with just a cardboard box. So now people all over the world make their own games out of cardboard.
Here is the first video http://youtube.googleapis.com/v/faIFNkdq96U
Here is the secound http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul9c-4dX4Hk

Fractals

Fractals are a thing that when you pull off bits of it becomes a miniature version of the oringnal. For example broccoli. You pull a branch of broccoli off and it becomes a smaller version on the main head. It continues past one of the seeds. So Darryn made us draw some fractals  of triangles. It looks realy cool. Since Darryn has been torturing us with them he decided to make his own one and he  figured out how hard it is to do them. We made the second highest one, but modified it a bit. It involves a lot of measuring.

Week Three

My favorite part of enrich today was the Wilson game. It was called hoops. We split up into groups of three. We had to hold hands to make a triangle. 2 meters infrout of us was a hoop. The aim of the game was to jump all the way down to the hoop and then jump in it. The rules are: that when you jump in the hoop you can't touch the hoop and your feet had to land  flat, we could only jump when Katie clapped and said "jump." When Katie said "jump" we could only jump once and  we had to jump with our feet together  and land with our feet together. We the whole group had to land at the same time. It was hard because even the slightest mistake can cost you dearly by going back to the very start! My group came second. Only the first three to land in the hoop without touching it got a place.
